Knitters Free in October

The Knitters will be playing at the "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass" festival at Golden Gate Park's Speedway meadows the first weekend of October. Dave Alvin will also be playing a set with the Guilty Men.

This tribe brings back the memories!

First saw X opening for Devo in Long Beach (Actually Devo opened the show masquerading as a Christian rock band called Dove the band of Love!). Was it 1980? It was my first weekend in Orange County (Just as frightening as it sounds). This non-punk rock lover was smitten. Saw them more than a dozen times in the next few years at the Whiskey, Cuckoo's Nest, Music Machine, Madame Wongs. Remember hearing "Los Angeles" on the RTD blaring on someone's radio when it first came out. Their songs still give me chills. Glad Billy's back with the band. Sorry I missed the latest local shows. That won't happen again. Best live rock band I've ever seen.

DJ moonlighting in SF 12/10

Just got back from seeing Los Lobos at the Fillmore.
Dave Alvin opened for them with DJ on drums. Both Dave and DJ came back out to sit in with LL for a couple of kick ass tunes: Matchbox and buzz buzz buzz. Too much fun!

I've just recently discovered the brilliance of X, with the first 3 albums. But I was wondering where to go from there....should I just keep going in order, or skip around to find the better of the latter?

Also....is Exene's solo stuff any good?

I had a dream about Excene

Two nights ago, I had the coolest dream that I was good friends with Excene and it was too funny. She called to ask me to go out to dinner, and I was tearing through my closet trying to find something cool enough to wear to dinner with her. I kept trying to call friends (including the moderator of this forum, sandi!!!) and asking what I should wear - but I couldn't get through on anyone's line. I also couldn't seem to dial correctly. What does it all mean? who the hell knows. Maybe a reminder that I need to buy my tickets for The Knitters in February. HA!
