Hi all. I'm new here. Got to feeling nostalgic today and played X Live at the Whiskey A Go-Go. Just wondering if anyone else was at Slim's on Saturday? Dave Alvin is sounding pretty amazing these days. His new Ashgrove CD is brilliant.

Re: Dave Alvin at Slim's
Thu, August 26, 2004 - 8:07 AMSaw him and the guilty men two weeks ago at the Troubador in LA. Great show!! Was Amy Farris the opening act up there? She was down here, and sat in with the Dave as well. A great great fiddle player and vocalist, that one. Just released her first album "Anyway" produced by Dave Alvin.
And THEN: Last Sunday night, X!!!, original lineup, down here at the Sunset junction street fair.
John was great, great, great, Billy Zoom spent half the set looking his best and hamming it up for the cameras, and the thrill of being in the mosh pit during "los angeles" in LA made it all amazing. DJ was hitting the drums hard, and yeah, I'm still in love with Exene. Whatta show.Whatta week! -

Thu, August 26, 2004 - 1:03 PMOh, I am so jealous (except for the mosh pit...I think those days are behind me). You are a lucky boy!!
Yes, Amy Farris opened for Dave but, unfortunately, we missed her. She did join the band on a couple of songs later. She seemed very cool. Liked the little bit I heard from her.
What's Exene's style these days? Still the bleached out punkster in housedresses? Yeah, no matter. She's still the queen.
